February 2016, Essex, UK. On an early spring mornings, swimming pools all over Essex and the rest of the UK were ringing with the huff and puff and splish and splash of swimmers taking part in Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Swimathon challenge.

Tania and her son Tom took on the Swimathon challenge and swam themselves, and us, proud with the goal of raising an amazing £100 for Sport Relief. The money raised will help Sport Relief transform lives across the UK and in the world’s poorest communities.

Olympic gold medallist and Swimathon Ambassador Duncan Goodhew said, “Taking part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Swimathon gives you the motivation to get your costume on, jump in the pool and get swimming. There’s nothing better than getting active and there’s no better way than in the pool.”

The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Swimathon took place from 18th to 20th March 2016 at more than 600 swimming pools across the UK. Thousands of swimmers signed themselves up to take part and this year’s event for Sport Relief looks set to be bigger than ever before. Joining the swimmers were hundreds of pool staff and volunteers from the local community, helping with the running of each event, counting lengths and to cheer on each and every participant over the course of the weekend.

Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives. Since 2002, Sport Relief has raised over £262 million. The money raised by the public is spent by Comic Relief to help people living incredibly tough lives, across the UK and the world’s poorest communities.  #SR16 #Swimathon16 #Essex
